12U Girls Fall Player Development Program, (2025)
Player Development Program
Objectives: To develop a positive playing experience to help players and families engage with basketball.
Personal Values: Commitment, Teamwork, Empathy and Respect
Phase of Play Teaching:
Transition Offence: exploiting an essential numerical advantage (i.e. 2 v 1). Progression up the court in transition (passing ahead, getting ahead).
Offence: Penetrating the defence mainly through 1 v 1, initially getting open, and essential spacing.
Transition Defence: Protecting the basket (getting back home)
Defence: Stopping penetration (mostly 1 v 1 defence)
Methods: Conditioned fun games that allow children to understand space, dribble, pass, and shoot—low structure / high freedom (guided discovery). 1 v 1, 2 v 1 situations.
We will also be supporting children to develop a broad range of motor skills such as agility, balance, coordination, speed, and combinations of running, jumping, catching, etc.
Program sessions will occur on Saturday mornings at Jack Hulland School
For: Girls ages 10 to 12
Saturdays: 10:00 to 11:30 AM
Sessions will occur on the following Saturdays:
September 20, 27; October 4, 11, 18, and 25; November 1, 8, 15 and 22; and December 13 and 20.
