11U Boys Winter Player Development Program, (2026)
Player Development Program
Objectives: To develop a positive playing experience to help players and families engage with basketball.
Personal Values: Commitment, Teamwork, Empathy and Respect
Phase of Play Teaching:
Transition Offence: exploiting an essential numerical advantage (i.e., two v 1). Progression up the court in transition (passing ahead, getting ahead).
Offence: Penetrating the defence mainly through 1 v 1, initially getting open, basic spacing.
Transition Defence: Protecting the basket (getting back home)
Defence: Stopping penetration (mostly one v one defence)
Methods: Conditioned fun games that allow children to understand space, dribble, pass, and shoot—low structure / high freedom (guided discovery). 1 v 1, 2 v one situations.
We will also support children in developing a broad range of motor skills, including agility, balance, coordination, speed, and running, jumping, catching, etc.
The program will run from Saturday, January 10, through April 18.
For: Boys ages 9 to 11 (grades 4 - 6)
Saturdays: 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Canada Games Center.
Saturdays: Beginning Saturday, January 10, 2026
Sessions will occur on the following Saturdays:
January 10, 17 and 31
February: 7, 14 and 21
March: 21 and 28
April: 11 and 18
Sessions will not occur on January 24, February 28, March 7 and 14 and April 4
Where: Canada Games Center (CGC)

Come dressed and ready to play.
