Wolf Pack Basketball
U11 Boys Player Development Program · Ages 9-10 (Grades 4-5) · Fall 2026
Objectives
To develop a positive playing experience that helps players and families engage with basketball.
Program focus
Over the program, players develop the life skills of a positive attitude, teamwork, communication, goal setting, confidence, fair play, work ethic, and leadership, while building the basketball skills of ball-handling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, rebounding, defence, and individual and team play, all the way to 3-on-3 competition.
Personal Values
Commitment, Teamwork, Empathy, and Respect.
Phase of Play Teaching
Transition Offence: exploiting an essential numerical advantage (for example, 2v1), and progressing up the court in transition (passing ahead, getting ahead).
Offence: penetrating the defence mainly through 1v1, initially getting open, and basic spacing.
Transition Defence: protecting the basket (getting back home).
Defence: stopping penetration (mostly 1v1 defence).
Methods
Conditioned fun games that help players understand space, dribble, pass, and shoot, with low structure and high freedom (guided discovery), using 1v1 and 2v1 situations. We also support players in developing a broad range of motor skills: agility, balance, coordination, speed, running, jumping, and catching.
